Scavenger hunters took a trip to the Star Wall, which is located outside of First Avenue. First Avenue is one of the longest-running theatres in the United States and is dedicated to supporting local artists, promoting diversity, and providing fun music and other live events for all. The Star Wall features hundreds of silver stars that feature the names of famous musicians and artists. The wall also features one gold star that is dedicated to Prince, who is from Minneapolis and obviously deserving of this honor. It is somewhat of a mystery when it comes to how the theatre chooses who gets a star. However, the rumor is that in order to get a star, you must sell out the main room of the theatre or be someone who has had a major impact on the local community. The photo challenge at this stop was for participants to take a photo with a star of their favorite celebrity. This group chose Mason Jennings, who is a local folk-pop singer and songwriter.

Pay the Toll – Hennepin Avenue Bridge

At this stop, scavenger hunters ventured across and under… the Hennepin Avenue Bridge. This bridge is named after Louis Hennepin, who was a 17th-century explorer who first saw Saint Anthony Falls. Finding these falls was an important historical event because it is the only waterfall across the entire Mississippi River. This bridge connects Hennepin Avenue, which is in downtown Minneapolis, to Nicollet Island. Teams ventured across the bridge to take in the sights of the river. However, we gave them the challenge to also venture under the bridge. Once under the bridge, they had to take a photo of a team member pretending to be a troll who was asking another team member to pay a toll.
