Belk Theater – Now Showing…

For this challenge, teams took a trip to the iconic Belk Theatre. Belk Theater features state-of-the-art equipment and a contemporary European horseshoe arrangement, as well as 2,400 “points of light” in the audience chamber. The challenge at this stop was to strike a pose imitating one of the feature show posters.

Spectrum Center – Game on!

Teams ventured to the Spectrum Center, which is home to the Charlotte Hornets NBA team! This location was the perfect backdrop for a basketball-themed challenge. Teams were tasked with capturing a photo of a basketball-style ‘Jump Ball’ moment in front of the arena. Participants had to simulate the excitement of the game’s start, with two members posing as if vying for the ball.

The Green – Reading Break

In the heart of Charlotte, The Green is a delightful park that celebrates literature and art. The park is divided into three sections, each representing a different genre of literature: history, the arts, and geography. Visitors can find sculptures, fountains, and even a walkway with quotes from famous authors embedded in the pavement. The challenge for teams was to find the iconic bronze books statue and capture a photo of their own storytime session.

The Firebird on the Arch – Disco Chicken

The Firebird on the Arch, also referred to as the “Disco Chicken” by locals, is a stunning architectural feature that adds a touch of elegance and grandeur to the cityscape. Teams were challenged to capture a photo of themselves under the 17-foot arch, embracing the beauty and majesty of this iconic structure. This stop was all about finding beauty in the urban environment and creating a lasting memory of their journey through the city.

Romare Bearden Park – In the Splash Zone

In Charlotte’s bustling Uptown, teams visited Romare Bearden Park. This park is an oasis of greenery and artistry, with its beautiful waterfall being a focal point. Teams had to wander the park until they found the famous Romare Bearden Park waterfall. Once they found it, contests were challenged to take a picture in the splash zone of the waterfall without getting wet!

In the heart of Uptown Charlotte, teams were challenged to find and take a photo with the Four Corner Statues in Independence Square. These iconic statues at the intersection of Tryon and Trade Streets, represent commerce, industry, transportation, and the future. Each stands as a testament to the city’s dynamic history and promising future.

Fourth Ward – Overcarsh House

Charlotte has many historic homes and buildings. Built-in 1880, one of the oldest homes, the Overcarsh House, is located in Fourth Ward. Teams were tasked with locating and capturing this historic landmark by taking a photo of their oldest teammate in front of the city’s oldest house. This stop was a unique opportunity to connect with Charlotte’s past and learn the stories that have shaped both the city and its people.
