Historic Phoenix City Hall – Police Museum

Participants visited the Phoenix Police Museum, which is located at the Historic Phoenix City Hall which was actually the Phoenix Police Department from 1928 to 1975. This museum features history and educational exhibits about the Phoenix Police Department. It highlights the history of the department all the way back to 1881 when the city elected the first city marshal, Henry Garfias. For the photo-op, teams had to take a picture to make it look like they were fighting crime.

Historic Herritage Sqaure – Posing With History

Participants made their way to the Historic Heritage Square. This square is a striking reminder of the city’s vibrant Victorian past. It dates back to the 1800’s and features many historic pieces and artifacts. One of the main attractions is the restored Rosson House Museum, which serves as a reminder of Phoenix’s Victorian past. This museum features galleries, restaurants, a wine bar, and more. The photo challenge for teams was to get a photo of a teammate posing with something historic.

Footprint Center – Jump Ball

The next challenge for teams was to make their way to Footprint Center. This arena is home to many notable sports teams, including the Phoenix Suns NBA team and the Phoenix Coyotes NHL team. For the photo, the team had to huddle up and get creative. They were tasked with making it look like they were playing a sport that would be played inside the Footprint Center. This team chose to coordinate a basketball shot!

Symphony Hall – Conducting an Orchestra

Next up, participants made a musical stop at Symphony Hall. Symphony Hall is part of the Phoenix Civic Plaza and the Phoenix Convention Center. It hosts all different types of performing arts events. It is home to the Phoenix Symphony, Ballet Arizona, the Arizona Opera, and many more talented musical groups. The photo challenge at this stop was to take a picture of someone pretending to conduct their team in an orchestra performance.

Herberger Theater Center – Act It Out

The Herberger Theater Center is a hub for the performing arts in Phoenix. It is home to multiple theater companies and puts on a variety of dance, improv, and other performing arts shows featuring local and national talent. This theater is super important as a supports and promotes the performing arts in Phoenix. For the photo, teams had to reenact an iconic movie scene. This team chose the Titanic… he’s the king of the world!

Oak Street Murals – Outdoor Art Museum

For the next stop, teams made their way to Oak Street Alley to take in the beautiful and vibrant mural walls. The Oak Street murals are painted in a variety of styles by local artists. Every year in March, the city hosts the Oak Street Alley Mural Festival. At this festival, featured artists paint brand-new murals. The public is welcome to come watch the artists at work and also enjoy performances by many local musicians. The photo challenge at this stop was to take a photo with your team in front of your favorite mural.

Hanny’s – Clothing to Cocktails

Teams visited Hanny’s restaurant and were challenged to take a photo highlighting their full bellies. Constructed in 1947, Hanny’s restaurant features three levels, including a basement! This iconic Phoenix restaurant was actually once a department store called “Hanny’s” until its closure in 1986. In 2005, Karl Kop acquired the building and made it into what it is today. You will find odd art installations, classic architecture, delicious bites, and plenty of cocktails.
