Uniting Remote Teams,
No Matter the Distance
When a company with employees spread across multiple time zones wanted an event that felt both local and unified, they turned to cityHUNT.
The plan? Create an epic scavenger hunt that tied each city’s unique flavor into one shared experience — no plane tickets required.
By blending location-specific challenges with universal clues, we ensured that everyone, whether in bustling Manhattan or near the Rocky Mountains, felt equally engaged.
The ultimate goal was to strengthen employee bonds across all offices while fueling a friendly rivalry to keep their energy sky-high.

THE CHALLENGE:
Overcoming the Distance Dilemma
Bringing teams together in one city is simple; coordinating four simultaneous events is trickier. Our client wanted:
- A Single Night of Unity: Employees in NYC, SLC, Dallas, and Denver playing at the same time
- Local Exploration & Shared Experiences: Riddles and tasks that showed off each city’s landmarks, plus universal challenges anyone could tackle
- Seamless Tech & Logistics: No matter their location, every participant needed easy access to the action in real time
They envisioned a high-energy event that sparked camaraderie both locally and across offices. It was a tall order for any in-person gathering, let alone one happening nationwide.

cityHUNT’s
Big Game Plan
With years of expertise in gamification and remote-friendly events, our Adventure Team leapt into action to design a custom hunt:
1. Unique City Challenges
Each location got personalized tasks spotlighting iconic local gems. In Manhattan, teams tackled daring photo missions around Times Square and the High Line, while Denver participants captured creative selfies along 16th Street Mall and LoDo.
2. Universal Clues & Trivia
To tie everyone together, we included company-themed riddles and creative photo/video tasks that any team could tackle, regardless of their zip code.
3. App-Powered Competition
Participants downloaded the cityHUNT app ahead of time. When the clock started, they could see a shared leaderboard, submit photos and videos, and monitor rival teams’ progress across all four cities.
4. Live Support & Connectivity
Our remote facilitation team tracked challenges in real time, provided in-app updates, and cheered from the sidelines, ensuring every city stayed in sync.
The Night of the Hunt:
One Start Time, Four Epic Adventures
With instructions in hand, employees arrived at their chosen city landmarks with phones charged and team spirit high. At the designated start time, they launched the scavenger hunt in unison, racing from clue to clue.
- Riddles & Landmarks: Teams in Dallas hunted for hidden murals in Deep Ellum and snapped selfies with the iconic cattle drive sculptures at Pioneer Plaza. Meanwhile, New Yorkers solved riddles around Grand Central Station and breezed through the bustling streets near Bryant Park.
- Shared Chat & Leaderboards: Submissions flooded in in the form of quirky videos and ridiculous photos, prompting laughs and encouragement from coworkers who were literally states away.
- Friendly Rivalries: The leaderboard kept teams on their toes until the final minutes, as everyone scrambled for bonus points and last-second completions.
THE MOMENT OF TRUTH
When time was up, all the participants gathered around their
phones, waiting for the final scores…
- Dallas emerged victorious by just a handful of points, sparking cheers and groans across the country.
- Other teams celebrated photo-finish tie-breakers and swapped stories of their biggest laughs and near-misses.
- Colleagues in each location felt bonded not only to their local teammates but also to coworkers hundreds of miles away
Distance Doesn’t Have to Divide
By the end of the evening, the company had achieved its main goal: bringing multiple offices together for one unified team experience.
Although participants were scattered across four cities, they shared the same excitement, inside jokes, and “I-can’t-believe-we-pulled-that-off” moments, just as though they’d been playing in the same city block.
